SmartPowders N-Acetyl-L-Tyrosine Capsules

N-Acetyl-Tyrosine (NAT) is the acetylated form of the amino acid tyrosine. Tyrosine is a precursor of the catecholamine neurotransmitters norepinephrine (NE), epinephrine (E), and dopamine (DA), which are involved in brain function and mood regulation.

Stress, whether in the form of exercise or daily life issues, can deplete brain levels of the catecholamines (Banderet and Lieberman 1989), which may decrease physical and cognitive performance or lead to mood disturbance. Supplementing with tyrosine can increase the production of catecholamines thereby supporting brain function, mood, and performance.

Oral supplementation with tyrosine in humans has been shown to:
·         Improve exercise performance in heat (Tumilty, Davison et al. 2011)
·         Decrease adverse mood and performance impairment when exposed to cold and hypoxia (Banderet and Lieberman 1989)

·         Improve cognitive function during sleep deprivation (Neri, Wiegmann et al. 1995)
·         Improve cognitive function during cardiovascular stress (Dollins, Krock et al. 1995)

Heat, cold, and sleep deprivation are all forms of stress that lead to a decline in physical and cognitive performance. Supplementing with tyrosine improved performance and cognitive function during these stressful conditions.

NAT is more stable and bioavailable than the standard L-tyrosine. In addition, users of NAT report increased cognitive enhancement above what the standard L-tyrosine delivers. Stacking NAT with stimulants or nootropics can potentiate their stimulatory and cognitive effects by increasing the production of catecholamine neurotransmitters. The recommended dosage of NAT is 500-2000mg per day.
